Frequently asked questions

New patients and newborn care

Do you care for newborns?

Yes. Dr. Ashraf has extensive experience caring for newborns, including premature infants and babies with specialized medical needs. We welcome newborns after hospital discharge and provide early visits for feeding support, weight checks, jaundice evaluation, and routine newborn care.

Do you offer prenatal meet-and-greet visits?

Yes. Expecting and prospective parents are welcome to meet Dr. Ashraf before their child's first appointment. This visit is an opportunity to ask questions and discuss newborn care, feeding, vaccinations, safe sleep, and what to expect during the first weeks after birth.

How do I become a new patient?

Call our office at 559-320-6528 to schedule your child's first visit. Our team will help you get started and explain how to transfer medical records from your child's previous pediatrician, if needed.

How do I transfer my child's medical records?

After scheduling your child's first appointment, provide our team with the previous pediatrician's contact information. We will explain the records-transfer process and help coordinate the request.

Appointments and care

Do you offer same-day sick visits?

Yes. We make every effort to see sick children the same day. Please call as early as possible so we can offer the most convenient available appointment for your child.

Do you offer telehealth visits?

Yes. Telehealth is available for selected concerns when clinically appropriate. Our team will help determine whether your child's needs are best addressed through an in-person or virtual visit.

What should I do if my child gets sick after hours or on the weekend?

For non-emergency concerns, call our office and follow the after-hours instructions to reach the on-call provider. If your child is experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

Can I book an appointment online?

Secure online scheduling will be available soon. In the meantime, call us at 559-320-6528 and our team will be happy to schedule or reschedule your child's appointment.

What are your office hours?

Our office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Same-day sick appointments are available whenever possible, and weekend telehealth visits are offered for selected concerns.

Insurance, records, and forms

What insurance plans do you accept?

We accept most major insurance plans, including Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Health Net, CalViva Health, Medi-Cal, and Cigna. If your plan is not listed, call our office and we will be happy to help verify coverage.

What should I bring to my child's first visit?

Please bring the following items when available:

  • Insurance card
  • Parent or guardian photo ID
  • Immunization records
  • Previous medical records
  • A current list of medications
  • Relevant referral or specialist records
Do you complete sports physicals and school forms?

Yes. We complete sports physicals, school participation forms, daycare forms, and other routine medical forms. Whenever possible, these can be completed during your child's well-child visit.

How do I request a school or sports physical form?

Bring the required form to your child's appointment. If you need a form completed outside a scheduled visit, call the office first so our team can confirm whether updated records or an examination are required. When your child is due for a well-child visit, the physical and forms can often be completed together.
